  • The works of Swiss artist Miriam Cahn stand out as counterpoint to the ensemble. The artist’s intriguing canvases present portraits of individuals of indeterminate gender, human or animal, with eyes wide open. The strident colours, the intensity and the immediate impact of her phantasmagoric images show the personal iconography developed by the artist, who was powerfully influenced by the belligerent feminist movement of the Sixties.

The worlds of silence, women, animals and war, the transfigured body as object of violence, are constantly reflected in her work, like a dense mixture of colours and penetrating smells.

Cahn’s works simultaneously express a sense of melancholic solitude and an intense impression of creative, revolutionary force.
