  • The interest in simple basic industrial materials and the intense interaction with their physical properties are key aspects of the art practice of Christoph Weber. His work brings into play a series of reflections on idea, process and method. His conceptual enquiries are mainly expressed through sculpture. With evident references to Arte Povera and the Minimalist tradition, all of his works, which range from the delicate and fragile pieces to imposing large-scale pieces, are characterized by their sensual and almost organic elegance.

Beton (gerollt) [Concrete (rolled)] is an elegant piece in which a shapeless mass of concrete is draped in folds of white canvas. The work is a reference to the act of its own realization, which results from the physical interaction between the fabric and the still fluid mixture of materials.

Ernesto said to me that this piece was like a perfume bottle and the scent it contains, and that is the olfactory connection.
