  • SALA KUBO – KUTXAESPACIO DEL ARTE SAN SEBASTIAN

For the realization of the educational proposal for the Ernesto Ventós Omedes collection of painting and sculpture, we start from the experiences brought together in the exhibition Essences. In these we see how, twenty years ago, Mr Ventós’s singular, innovative and enormously stimulating initiative of arises, of creating a visual arts collection with smell as a leitmotif came into being. In order to make his vision a reality he visited the studios of numerous artists to persuade them to contribute to this collection whose objective is to communicate olfactory perceptions and sensations by materializing them in the form of artworks.

The Ventós collection today includes many internationally acclaimed names, with the result that its compellingly attractive thematic singularity is enhanced by the outstanding of the works themselves, endorsed by the signatures of the important artists they bear.

When we were asked to design an educational proposal around the exhibition, we decided that this should focus on how people engage with the content of the show.

Our educational projects to energize exhibition spaces set out to provide us as viewers with the opportunity to share in the journey of aesthetic creation made by the artist in arriving at the work we see before us.

The exhibition Essences presents us with many such journeys, from the most varied expressive resources, but all with a common denominator, a question in the answering of which we find the generating idea that endows the structure of the exhibition with a clear structure.
