I don’t know what a cotton field smells like, but this work reminds me of it. The black holes would be the white bolls, as if in negative, and their placing, as if they were large nostrils, makes it seem as if they served to capture a delicately oily perfume.

Everything on this white surface is as if each cotton boll were giving off a warm sweet dose of this aroma.
