The Bride

My piece The Bride, like the perfume,

is imbued with the 19^th century, the 19^th century

is my obsession. The Bride smells of

naphthalene. Naphthalene is the best

aroma, the one that others reject but

the one that retains everything that the

others forgot.

Princess Lily de Borbón / La Infanta Azucena de Borbón

Princess Lily kept all her emotions in little paper bags, and so the princess and the envelopes smelled of lilies.

One day, Lily, who was young and proud, found that in the right-hand drawer of her dresser there were a dozen lilies; she thought this was at once strange and wonderful. From that day on the princess was gradually transformed into a sad lily.

The princess didn’t smell but her dog did.
