  • Pines are the ultimate Mediterranean forest trees. Their colour and grains have this intense, penetrating smell that speaks of the earth they grow in, the minerals in their substrate, and sea salt. Wood work requires a profound respect for these living beings; one must understand their inner nature and their very special features, which shape their unique personality.

Whenever I create a sculpture I feel just the way writers do when they build up a character. I want my creations to have a life of their own: their virtues and flaws, their experiences, their shades of grey and their own idiosyncrasy. Each layer of information is laid upon the previous one, thus forming an intellectual substrate that is at the core of each piece to shape it, make it meaningful, and vertebrate it as a unique, distinct work with its very own energy, smell, and texture.
